As the founder of Greater Things, I would like to be the first to commend you on taking the first step toward making positive changes that will enhance your sense of personal power, resilience, interpersonal effectiveness, and overall well-being, ultimately helping you achieve "greater things"!
Psychology is my passion, and I am honored each time someone trusts me to walk beside them on their healing journey. I believe that in any circumstance, we are all doing the best we can, and we can all do better. This approach to therapy enables one to be compassionate towards oneself regarding the past, which opens the door to acceptance, the first step towards change. I employ an integrative and collaborative approach as I assist others in recognizing and changing thoughts and behaviors that prevent them from engaging and performing at their optimal level of functioning, enabling them to live a fuller, more balanced, and joyful life.
I earned my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology degree from Pacific University, completed a residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, and served as an Air Force officer and psychologist from 2000 to 2007. I have training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and in 2000-2001, a colleague and I were the first ever to bring DBT group therapy to a military setting with excellent results. In addition to my DBT training, I am a certified clinical trauma professional and also have training/experience in EMDR, substance abuse prevention/treatment, and suicide and workplace violence prevention. Furthermore, I am a certified instructor in Preparation and Relationship Prevention Program, Real Colors Assessment and Workshops, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, and an experienced speaker and wellness seminar presenter.
